Looking for "green" wearables? We’ve got ’em! In fact, Thorne Communications is a Certified Organics Apparel Provider for the UltraClub Organics Line. However, we do not feature them on this site due to the many style, size, and decorating options available. Click here to learn more about buying organic apparel at the Organic Apparel Buying Guide and see available styles. Then email us at sales@PromoWithPurposeShop.com to begin the ordering process.
BIODEGRADABLEMade from material that will degrade when exposed to the elements and/or landfill and commercial composting conditions. Primarily made from corn or plant-based materials. Some standard or recycled plastics have been treated to shorten their time to safely biodegrade to even as short as 10 years (normally could take hundreds!). Biodegradability times vary with materials and conditions. Biodegradable products do not degrade with normal use and proper storage.
ORGANICMade of plant materials that have been grown and harvested using organic methods which prohibit the use of herbicides, pesticides, and GMO (genetically modified organism) seeds. Organic products must also be processed on equipment and facilities that do not also process traditional materials to avoid contamination from chemicals. Organic products are also certified by organizations such as the USDA and Oregon Tilth (tilth.org).
RECYCLEDMade from material that has been reclaimed from manufacturing operations (pre-consumer) or waste (post-consumer). Higher percentage of recycled material helps reduce volume going to landfills. Generally a higher percentage of post-consumer material is preferred since it helps close the "green loop" by converting waste into usable product.
REUSABLEProduct can be used multiple times before disposal. Used as a substitute for disposable products such as bags and drinkware. Minimal designation to be considered ecofriendly.
USA MADEMade in the USA of a variety of ecofriendly materials. Reduces environmental costs of shipping from overseas. Also supports US workers and a fair trading environment. May also be manufactured in a union-affiliated facility.
FAIR TRADEMade by a company that has made a commitment to fair wages, a safe and healthy workplace, environmental responsble operations, and accountability. Certification by a recognized third party organization is required to officially label as fair trade. Usually used for companies outside the USA.
